Rotten Potato Data Buyback Program

Share a Past Storage Event. Help Build Better Early Warning for Potato Storage.

June 26, 2026

Get Paid to Share a Past Storage Event

We are inviting growers to contribute historical storage data from spoilage and sprouting events as part of our new Rotten Potato Data Buyback Campaign. Qualified participants may be eligible for compensation or future Cellar Smart Storage Monitoring credits.

Help Improve Early Warning for Potato Storage

Cellar Insights is looking for potato growers and storage operators who experienced a significant storage event and have digital storage data to share.

Your experience can help improve the next generation of early warning technology for the potato industry. By combining real-world storage events with historical sensor and ventilation data, we're training machine learning models to detect storage risks sooner, helping growers make better decisions before problems spread.

What Qualifies?

We're looking for significant storage events, including:

  • Rot
  • Breakdown
  • Hot spots
  • Other material quality deterioration

Eligible events should include an approximate date (or date range) and as much supporting information as possible, such as:

  • Temperature changes
  • CO₂ or ventilation issues
  • Unusual odours
  • Grading results
  • Processor feedback
  • Load notes
  • Photos

We're looking for historical digital storage data from:

  • Before the event
  • During the event
  • After the event

For full consideration, data should include:

  • Temperature
  • Relative humidity
  • CO₂
  • Plenum and return air measurements

For this initial launch, data must be exportable from Cellar integration-ready ventilation systems.

Your Data Is Protected

Your data may be used for:

  • Machine learning model training
  • Model validation
  • Labelled event analysis
  • Product development
  • Anonymous, aggregated reporting

Your grower identity, farm name, and identifiable commercial information will never be shared publicly without your permission.

Any case study or public reference featuring your operation will only be created with your explicit approval.
