We're proud to announce that Cellar Insights has been selected as one of five technologies at Farm Credit Canada's new Innovation Farm Network potato site in MacGregor, Manitoba. This partnership with J.P. Wiebe Ltd., an EMILI research farm, represents a significant milestone in our mission to transform post-harvest potato storage through smart monitoring technology.

Potatoes are Canada's most valuable vegetable crop and the fifth-largest primary agriculture crop overall, with Canada ranking among the top 10 global exporters of table and seed potatoes. Despite this economic importance, the potato sector faces significant challenges during post-harvest storage, where growers often discover problems too late—when rot has already spread or quality has declined.

Our smart storage monitoring system is being deployed at the 6,000-acre J.P. Wiebe potato farm to help minimize loss and detect early signs of spoilage, excess shrink, and poor fry color. Using advanced sensors that track air flow, humidity, temperature, and carbon dioxide levels, our technology provides rot gas detection capabilities and integrates with compatible ventilation systems to deliver alerts, trending information, and actionable analytics.

As our CEO Terry Sydoryk explained to the Winnipeg Free Press: "The challenge is how can you detect it earlier than you smell it? Because obviously it's already started. It's basically a livelihood that's being invested, and ultimately, that needs to be protected."

This deployment marks our first venture into Manitoba and showcases how our technology can help commercial potato growers across North America protect their crop value and reduce post-harvest losses.
